The Tuesday

Tuesday Morning

Quiet Morning

Tuesday morning is relatively quiet. Many of the participants will still be feeling the effects of Monday’s celebrations and therefore the processions and activities tend to begin a bit later. However, a few groups can be seen marching in the street.

Costumes

On Tuesday several participants wear their favorite costume, whilst others wear their ‘Tuesday costume’. Usually on Tuesday’s many of the groups you will see are composed of families and friends. In the smaller groups you will see pipers and drummers. These groups tend to take to the streets of the old city.

Groups

In some cases groups taking part on Tuesday can be made up of different Cliques. Many of these groups create their own costumes and give themselves a group name and from year to year they take to the streets on Tuesday.

Groups without Instruments

You will always come upon groups on Tuesday that do not play any instruments. Instead they take part in other activities. However, these groups are the exception, not the rule.

Gugge Music Groups

On the Tuesday ‘Gugge Music’ groups usually march with their common formation. Most of them wear a costume that is made especially for the Fasnacht Tuesday. This costume is usually custom made and will remain unchanged for years. The costumes tend to look the same for all members of a ‘Gugge Music’ band. Fasnacht Tuesday is also the day that ‘Gugge Music’ groups march with their friends and most importantly their children.
